PLATONIC SOLIDS - LIGHT GREY
Size: 28" x 80"
In Plato’s time it was believed that all things are made up of the four classical elements; earth, air, water, fire and a fifth element aether added by Aristotle who suggested that the heavens were made of this. Plato associated each of the elements with a solid in his dialogues. Earth was associated with the cube or hexahedron (six faces), air with the octahedron (eight faces), water with the icosahedron (twenty faces), fire with the tetrahedron (four faces) and aether with the dodecahedron (twelve faces).
